Prices for the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup may increase — at least according to a forecast by Jefferies investment bank analyst Edison Lee, as reported by MacRumors citing fresh industry insights.
The expected price hike is around $50 (in the U.S.), and it will reportedly affect the iPhone 17 Air (or Slim) — the model that is set to replace the previous Plus version — as well as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The base iPhone 17 model, however, is expected to remain at the same price point.
The suggested reason for this potential price increase is to offset rising component costs and the impact of Chinese import tariffs.
At the moment, analysts predict the following starting prices in the U.S.:
-
iPhone 17 – from $799
-
iPhone 17 Pro – from $1049
-
iPhone 17 Pro Max – from $1249
The projected starting price for the iPhone 17 Air has not yet been specified.
It’s worth noting that speculation about price increases for the upcoming iPhones has surfaced before — for instance, The Wall Street Journal mentioned this possibility as early as May.
