iPhone 17: New Level of Wireless Charging and Upgrade of the Entire Line
Apple is preparing to significantly improve wireless charging in the iPhone 17 lineup. According to leaks and data from regulatory databases, the new smartphones will support the Qi 2.2 standard, which will allow charging devices with a power of up to 50 W — this is twice as much as in the current iPhones with MagSafe (up to 25 W).
The new technology is expected to make charging faster and more efficient, reduce heating, and minimize energy loss.
Thus, the iPhone 17 will be able to not only catch up, but also surpass the wireless charging speed of devices from Google and Samsung, including Pixel and Galaxy, and will come close to the capabilities of the Xiaomi 15.
What else is known about this?
Information about the new charger was discovered by the publication 91mobiles — in the documents of the Taiwanese regulator NCC, two Apple accessories with support Qi 2.2 are described. The difference between them is presumably only in the length of the cable — 1 or 2 meters.
It is also reported that the new charger will work with older iPhone models — starting with the iPhone 11. However, the maximum power will only be available for the iPhone 17 and, possibly, future generations.
